State PWDs do a better job in road construction that the central government owned National Highways authority of India
Road construction by the state government run Public Works Departments in
the state sector has done well compared to the ones done by the National
highways authority during the lock down period of April to August this year
according to an official release
Our of 3181 kilometers of national high length constructed against the
target of 2771 kilometers, the state public works departments have contributed
2104 kilometers roughly sixty per cent of the target. The central government
owned National high ways authority could construct only 879 kilometers during
this period. a length of 198 kilometers was done by NHIDCL
Work on National
highways, here too the state PWDs have done better than NHAI
Work on National highways to a length of 3300 km have been awarded in this year till August,
which is more than double of the 1367 kms during the same period last year.
Here too the state PWDs have done better than NHAI. This includes 2167 kms of
NH by the state PWDs, 793 kms by NHAI, and 341 kms by NHIDCL.
Sanctions were issued for construction of 2983 kilometres of NHs all over
the country during this period. This includes 1265 kms by PWDs, 1183 kms by
NHAI, and 535 kms by NHIDCL.
