Operations at the
Colombo Port’s East Container Terminal (ECT) resumed after five years on
Tuesday, port officials said.
“Only 40 percent
of the total construction of the ECT was completed. We hope to make the maximum
out of what has been completed,” Daya Ratnayake, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority
chairman said.
A cargo vessel
from the Mediterranean Shipping Company, reached the East Container Terminal Oct
29 2020 to inaugurate operations.
The cargo vessel,
with a Liberian flag, was transporting goods from South Africa to China.
