
Cessation of Force Majeure announced by Krishnapatnam Port
The
Krishnapatnam Port near Chennai taken over by the Adani group a few months ago,
has announced cessation of Force Majeure with effect from midnight of November
one in an effort to protect and secure the supply chain industry
Decision in the light of various unlock
guidelines issued by Centre and State
The port
has taken the decision in the light of various unlock guidelines issued by the
central government as well as by the Andhra Pradesh governments and keeping in
mid the fact that the Port services are categorized as essential services
Through a
notice dated March 24, 2020, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, Krishnapatnam Port
Co. Ltd had notified a Force Majeure through a notice dated March 24th owing to
the Covid 19 pandemic. Under the notice the port said it was not responsible
for any claims, damages, charges, etc. whatsoever arising out of/or connected
to the above Force Majeure, either directly or indirectly, which without any
limitation would include vessel demurrages.
Although
the impact of the said Force Majeure continues and the Krishnapatnam Port Co.
contemplates the extent of its impact, the authority will endeavour to normalise
the port services as soon as possible and practicable the port release said.
