Demand for extending the Ro-Ro service on a 24X7 basis
There has also
been demand for extending the Ro-Ro service plying in the Fort Kochi-Vypeen
section on a 24X7 basis.
Though the service
was expected to be started on November 1, 2020, it had to be rescheduled due to
clearance issue; after alterations in the height of the trailers carrying
containers which required more clearance.
With this service,
the trucks transporting containers to the southern parts of the state from the
International Container Trans-shipment Terminal at Vallarpadam need not enter
the busy city roads thus reducing both travel time and cost . City traffic too
becomes less congested.
