Vande bharat train manufacturing reviewed by railway minister

Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the manufacturing of Vande Bharat trains in Integral coach factory in Chennai on May 19th. The Minister also flagged off the 12,000 Linke Hofmann Busch coach manufactured by the Chennai unit

"Vande Bharat manufacturing on fast track at ICF Chennai," the Minister tweeted.

He also said that 75 more of these trains are to be produced. These new trains will be better upgraded versions compared to older models, scheduled to be produced before Aug 15, 2023.

Vande bharat trains are currently running in Delhi Varanasi, Delhi Katra (Jammu) and Delhi Khujraho in Northern railways.  Railways have plans to run these high speed trains between Delhi and Mumbai and Delhi and Kolkata.Running these trains need adequate strength of tracks to permit a speed limit of at least 160 Kilometers per hour.

The capacity built in railway zones south of Vindhayas is to permit maximum speed of 110 kilometers per hours.

The current lot of trains will have a sleeper coach to facilitate long-distance overnight journeys. The new trains will have 3 classes with AC-1, AC-2 and AC 3 coaches. It is an essential update as the present Vande Bharat trains only have chair car seating format. To take advantage of modern technology, specifications for lightweight bogies, transformers, and motors, among other things, are being produced.

A 16-coach Vande Bharat train is anticipated to cost Rs 120 crore

Procurement of 400 extra Vande Bharat trains was announced in the Union Budget for the year. According to the budget provision, a 16-coach Vande Bharat train is anticipated to cost Rs 120 crore. The facility at Latur in Maharashtra has also been included in manufacturing 200 sets of Vande bharat trains besides Chennai, Kapurthala and Rae Bareilly.
