Kolkata Metro passes below Hoogly River

India’s first underwater Metrorail service in Kolkata is all set to be completed in the next ten months a statement from the city’s Metro rail corporation said.

 

Called the East West Corridor project the Metro line will connect the up market Salt Lake to Howrah via downtown Kolkata with a stretch below the Hoogly river.

 

Currently the corridor is operational between Sector five and Sealdah station.

 

The balance work on the corridor between Sealdah to Howrah Maidan is targeted to be completed by June 2023.
