The Valedictory function of the ‘53rd
National Safety Week’ was held on 12.03.2024, at the Port’s Administrative
Office.
The
safety week was observed at the Port from 04.03.2024 to 11.03.2024, highlighting the theme ‘Focus on Safety Leadership for Environmental,
Social & Governance (ESG) Excellence’, by organizing various sensitization
programmes like Essay writing, Slogan writing, and Drawing competitions
among the Port employees, School & College Students and Port users separately, with an aim to
renew the commitment of Port users and general public to work safely in the Port
environment. Two days Safety awareness training programme were conducted for
Port employees & Port users. One day Road safety campaign was organized.
During the campaign, safety awareness pamphlets were distributed, and Headlight
Dot stickers & Safety reflective stickers were pasted on all kind of
vehicles at Port premises.
Shri
Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority,
graced the valedictory function as Chief Guest and
HODs and Port employees/Officers also attended the function. Welcome address
was given by Shri R. Prabhakar, Traffic Manager, V.O.Chidambaranar Port
Authority, and the Safety report was presented. Additional Assistant Director –
Dock Safety, elaborated on the safety need to dock workers for safe working
practices while handling cargo.
Shri Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE,
Chairperson, in his presidential address, highlighted that
‘Productivity’ and ‘Safety’ are interrelated in the Port’s operational area and
maintaining good safety practices should be the responsibility and duty of
every individual. ‘zero accident’, safety in all aspects of Port operations, is
top priority of the Management. He appreciated all officers of different
sections of the Port fraternity and congratulated the Traffic
Department for successfully conducting various programmes during the Safety
Week campaign.
Shri
Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, distributed
prizes to the winners of various competitions.
To mark the 53rd National Safety Week, 53 Saplings were planted
in the VOC Port premises & saplings were distributed to all participants to
mark the Environment Safety.
The
Valedictory function concluded with a vote of thanks by
Shri T. Ramesh, Senior Deputy Traffic Manager, V.O. Chidambaranar Authority.
