APSEZ Mundra organized the beach cleaning activity at Mandavi Beach on the occasion of National Maritime Day/Week (2nd - 5th April 2024). The event was not just a routine cleanup, but a testament to the collective dedication of Adani employees, their families, children, with MMD Kandla and Coast Guard team towards environmental stewardship and maritime heritage preservation.
The event showcased a
remarkable spirit of unity as participants from diverse backgrounds came
together with a shared goal – to restore the pristine beauty of Mandavi Beach.
It was heartening to witness individuals of all ages, from children to seasoned
professionals, working hand in hand, demonstrating the power of community
collaboration.
The beach cleaning activity
was not merely about picking up litter; it was about making a tangible
difference in the environment. Volunteers meticulously combed through the sand,
removing debris and plastic waste that pose a threat to marine life and
ecosystems. By taking proactive steps to address coastal pollution, the
participants made a significant contribution to the preservation of Mandavi
Beach's natural beauty.
Beyond the cleanup efforts,
the event served as an educational platform for children and participants to
learn about the importance of coastal conservation. Through interactive sessions
and discussions led by environmental experts and Coast Guard personnel,
attendees gained insights into the ecological significance of marine habitats
and the role each individual play in safeguarding them.
The presence of esteemed
guests, including Principal Officer Captain Santosh Darokar from the
Marine Mercantile Department (MMD) Kandla and APSEZ (Mundra and Tuna Ports) CEO Shri Sujal Shah,
added a sense of gravitas to the occasion. Their participation underscored the
intrinsic connection between the maritime industry and environmental
sustainability, emphasizing the need for synergy between maritime activities
and conservation efforts.
As the beach cleaning
activity concluded, it left behind a legacy of commitment and inspiration. Around
250 kgs of waste was collected and disposed of as RDF in Ambuja Cement. Participants
departed with a renewed sense of responsibility towards the environment and a
deeper appreciation for the maritime heritage that binds communities together.
The event served as a reminder that every action, no matter how small,
contributes to the greater cause of protecting our oceans and coastal areas for
future generations.
In essence, the beach cleaning activity at Mandavi Beach on National Maritime
Day was not just a one-time event, but a symbol of ongoing dedication to
environmental stewardship and community engagement. It demonstrated the
profound impact that collective action can have in creating positive change for
our planet's precious ecosystems.
