Kalypso and Royal IHC to Build First Jones Act-Compliant Offshore Wind Cable Layer) to support the offshore wind sector in the U.S. and the vessel to be available from 2028

Emerging U.S. offshore wind contractor, Kalypso Offshore Energy, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with maritime technology leader, Royal IHC, to construct the first Jones Act-compliant Cable Lay Vessel (CLV) to support the offshore wind sector in the U.S.

The partnership between Royal IHC and Kalypso aims to advance the U.S. wind supply chain by domestically with the production of a 5,000-ton Cable Laying Vessel (CLV), filling a significant gap in the country’s vessel capabilities. The vessel is expected to be available from 2028.

Kalypso’s Cable Laying Vessel (CLV) will comply with the Jones Act, offering versatile cable lay services including installation, repair, and maintenance.
