AP Chambers Pushes Forth for Enhanced Air Cargo Facilities At Vijayawada Airport

This development is seen as a significant step towards improving the region’s connectivity and boosting economic activities. In light of Air India’s announcement, AP Chambers reiterated their interest in the establishment of international air cargo and cold storage facilities at Vijayawada airport.

AP Chambers president Potluri Bhaskara Rao emphasized the organization’s ongoing efforts to provide suggestions to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Vijayawada airport authorities. These suggestions aim to enhance the airport’s infrastructure and improve flight connectivity to major destinations.

We had earlier submitted representations to various airlines, including Air India, Indigo, and Akasa Air, to connect Vijayawada with key cities across the country. The long-pending demand for a direct flight between Vijayawada and Mumbai has finally been addressed, and we are grateful for this development said Bhaskara Rao.   Highlighting the critical need for an international cargo facility, Rao pointed out that the region exports significant quantities of perishable items and fresh produce. AP Chambers has been proactive in emphasizing the importance of improved air cargo facilities to support the region’s exporters. The proposed international air cargo and cold storage facilities would enable more efficient handling and transportation of perishable goods, significantly benefiting local businesses.

By reducing transit times and ensuring better preservation of perishable goods, the facilities would support the growth of the agricultural and horticultural sectors in Andhra Pradesh. The proposed air cargo facilities would not only meet the immediate needs of exporters but also position Vijayawada as a key logistics hub in the region.
