The meeting was Chaired by Shri Nandeesh Shukla, IRTS, Deputy Chairperson of DPA
and attended by key port user associations, including the Kandla Port Steamship
Agents Association, the Kandla Customs Brokers Association, the Gandhidham Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, the Kandla Stevedores Association Limited,
and the Kandla
Ship Chandlers and Ship Repairs Owners Association.
The
discussion focused on a range of critical port-related issues such as crane-berth hire charges, cargo productivity
norms, incentives for performance beyond port norms, weighbridge issues, land
charges, and port user passes. Discussion on marketing of Coal and other
cargoes was the core in this meeting.
Building on the commitment to sustain momentum, DPA
achieved an extraordinary milestone by handling a record-breaking 18.5 million
metric tons (MMT) of cargo within the first 45 days of the current fiscal year
2024-25. This remarkable feat represents a 6.81% growth compared to the same
period last fiscal year and surpasses the previous record set during FY 2022-23
by 6.38%.
DPA, Kandla is committed to ongoing engagement with
port users and stakeholders to address their concerns and enhance the
efficiency and competitiveness of the port. The constructive feedback and collaborative spirit demonstrated during
the meeting will help to decide future actions and strategies for the growth of
the port.
