JM BAXI Tuticorin International Container Terminal Pvt. Ltd. Welcomes First Crane Shipment

J M Baxi Ports & Logistics, a leading name in India's port and logistics sector, proudly announces the arrival of the first crane shipment at their fully owned container terminal, Tuticorin International Container Terminal Pvt. Ltd. This milestone event marks a significant step towards enhancing the operational capacity and efficiency at the Tuticorin port. 

The inaugural shipment, which berthed on June 8, 2024, includes one Rail Mounted Quay Crane (RMQC) and five electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (eRTGs). This delivery is part of a comprehensive equipment plan designed to optimize terminal operations. 

The full equipment roster will feature three RMQCs with a twin-lifting capacity of Safe Working Load (SWL) 65 tons, outreach of 58 meters (covering 20 rows across), nine eRTGs with 7+1 rows and 5+1 tiers, and an electric Reach Stacker (e-ReachStacker). 

A second shipment, dispatched from the crane manufacturing facility on June 6, 2024, is expected to arrive at Tuticorin on June 25, 2024. This consignment will include two RMQCs, four eRTGs, and one e-ReachStacker. The commissioning of these cranes is anticipated to be completed by the third week of July, with the terminal slated to be fully operational by August 2024.

The V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOCPA) is projected to handle 1.16 million TEUs by the fiscal year 2024-25, scaling up to 2 million TEUs by 2034-35, bolstered by the operations commencing at Tuticorin Container Terminal in September 2024.
