Proposal for Rs 570 crore state-of-art logistics hub in Agra approved

The project, estimated to cost Rs 570 crore, aims to significantly enhance the region’s logistics and transportation capabilities.

“The board has passed the proposal for the logistics hub in Mudhera. Seed Capital is needed for the purchase of land, and the proposal will be sent to the government for approval”, Shraddha Shandilya, Secretary of ADA, said. “Once the necessary approvals are obtained, the land acquisition process will begin, paving the way for this transformative project.”

The ADA approved the proposal for the project during its 143rd board meeting. The detailed financial outline includes an expenditure of Rs 4,000 per square meter on land acquisition and Rs 2,500 per square meter on development. The sale price of the land is projected to be around Rs 13,000 per square meter, which is competitive given the current market value of Rs 25,000 to 30,000 per square meter in the region.

The logistics hub is slated to span over 88 hectares in Mudhera and will be strategically positioned just one kilometer from the proposed new townships in Kakua and Bhandai.

The project is split into two primary financial commitments- Rs 350 crore will be allocated for land acquisition, while the remaining Rs 220 crore will be used for development works. This substantial investment is expected to decongest city roads by reducing the number of goods trucks passing through them.

To facilitate the construction of the logistics hub, the ADA will be purchasing land from local farmers based on mutual consent, offering a compensation package four times the current circle rate of Rs 70 lakh per hectare. This means, the ADA will spend Rs 350 crore solely on acquiring the required area of land. One of the logistics hub’s key advantages is going to be its strategic location and excellent connectivity.

It would lay just one kilometer from Bhandai railway station and will be easily accessible via the service road of the inner ring road. The hub’s location would ensure quick access to major routes including the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Yamuna Expressway, and the Jaipur Highway. The inner ring road facilitates a swift 10-minute drive to Fatehabad Road, which will be enhancing the hub’s logistical efficiency and connectivity to major cities such as Mathura, Delhi, Jaipur, and Lucknow.

In the Agra Master Plan 2031, the Mudhera area has been designated as an industrial zone, making it an ideal site for the logistics hub.

This classification underlines the city’s commitment to industrial development and infrastructure enhancement. By developing this logistics hub, the ADA aims to catalyse further economic growth and industrial activity in the region. The proposal for the logistics hub underscores the ADA’s vision of transforming Agra into a logistical powerhouse, capable of supporting extensive industrial activities.

 With the completion of this project, Agra is expected to experience significant economic benefits, including job creation and improved transportation infrastructure.
