‘ANAVI’ NGO, a
non-governmental organization promoted by world’s leading ship management
company, Anglo-Eastern Group organised a beach cleaning activity in the
maritime city of Chennai recently.
Anglo-Eastern Group’s
Chennai-based shore staffers, seafarers and their family members participated
in this event. ‘ANAVI’ celebrated its birthday by organizing a beach cleaning
drive at Besant Nagar Beach in the neighbourhood of Chennai.
Vineet Gupta, Managing
Director, Anglo Eastern Ship Management India said, “It is estimated that In
the past 25 years, over 150,000,000 pounds of trash has been collected by
various authorities from the beaches world-wide. Millions of plastic
micro-particles and other garbage are ingested by fish and other animals every
year across the globe. By removing trash, beach clean-ups create a safer
environment for nesting sea turtles, birds, and other wildlife too. And, beach
clean-ups also raise public awareness about the impacts of pollution on beaches
and oceans.”
“Being an obedient and prestigious corporate citizen of India,
Anglo-Eastern Ship Management India is committed to marine conservation through
such beach cleaning initiatives organized by our ‘ANAVI’ NGO in India,” he
added.
