Chennai Port Authority emphasized the
historical importance of Chennai Port and the role played to promote
International Cruise Tourism in India. With the modernized Cruise Terminal and
with the various facilitating measures undertaken by the Central and State
Government and with the active support of Vessel Agent M/s. GAC Shipping
(India) Pvt Ltd., M/s. Waterways Leisure Tourism Private Limited, and other
agencies, Chennai Port attracts more such Cruise vessels.
“M.V.Empress”, Bahamas Flag Cruise Vessel called Chennai Port on 12.07.2024
with 448crews and 1017 Passengers from Cochin andwith 1220 passengers are set to sail to Trincomalee, Sri Lanka on the
same day.
The 2024 Cruise season promised to line
up to last year’s success, that will connect thevarious tourist destinations in
Sri Lanka apart
from the regular High Seas itinerary. Between 12.07.2024 and 09.09.2024, over a
course of 18 calls, 9 will be to Sri Lankan destination and 9 High seas
itinerary.
