Wärtsilä Water & Waste collaborates with DHL to elevate supply chain efficiency

Under this agreement, DHL will oversee the warehousing and logistical operations for spare parts, aiming to further enhance the efficiency of Wärtsilä Water & Waste’s supply chain and bolster operational capabilities in anticipation of the business's upcoming sale. This collaboration aligns with Wärtsilä Water & Waste’s strategic objectives to prepare the business for operational independence while maintaining the high-quality service associated with the Wärtsilä name. The partnership is expected to reduce lead times and improve efficiencies for both existing and future customers.

"We’re always striving to improve our operations and our customers’ experience, which this partnership is a great example of. By collaborating with DHL, which shares our dedication to delivering top-tier services and solutions, we also take a significant step forward in achieving operational independence and strategic divestment," commented Cathy Stephenson, Managing Director, Wärtsilä Water & Waste.

Moreover, the partnership is designed to offer greater flexibility in Wärtsilä Water & Waste’s supply chain operations. With access to DHL’s extensive logistics network and expertise, the company will be able to swiftly adapt to market changes and customer demands. This increased flexibility will ensure prompt and efficient delivery of spare parts, reducing downtime and boosting customer satisfaction.

Additionally, DHL’s scalable services will enable the supply chain to respond dynamically to demand fluctuations, contributing to a more resilient and responsive operation.

"We are proud to deepen our collaboration with Wärtsilä. Over the years, we have developed extensive knowledge of their products and services, understanding their specific requirements and the circumstances in which they operate. It feels like a natural progression to now extend our logistics expertise to Wärtsilä Water & Waste, contributing to the unique customer experiences they create," stated John Scherders, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Benelux & Nordics.
