In a recent announcement made by the BCCI (Board of
Control for Cricket in India), Shri Harvansh Singh Pangalia, who is a resident
of Gandhidham (Kutch), is selected in Indian Cricket Team (U-19) for the
upcoming multi-format home series against Australia U19, which will feature
three 50-over games and two four-day matches to be played in Puducherry and
Chennai, respectively.
The Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Shri
Sushil Kumar Singh, congratulated Shri Harvansh and informed that it is a
matter of pride for the Kutch District, in general, and the Port Town of
Gandhidham, in particular, that a local young talent will represent India at
International level. The Chairman, DPA also conveyed best wishes on behalf
of the DPA to Shri Harvansh.
The Chairman, DPA also allowed Shri Harvansh to use
cricketing infrastructure available in DPA’s Sports Complex at Gopalpuri, free
of cost, and also allowed him access to all the sporting facilities, i.e.
outdoor and indoor, available at Gopalpuri, free of cost. The Chairman,
DPA also handed over Cricket Kit worth Rs. 1 Lakh, comprising of Bat, Pads,
Gloves, Shoes, T-shirt, Track and other requisite sports material, to Shri
Harvansh.
It is relevant to note that the sporting infrastructure
available with the DPA at Gopalpuri is meant for employees/their families and
residents of Gopalpuri; and for use of these sports facilities by private
individuals, a monthly fees of Rs. 3,000/- is being charged for each sporting
facility. However, as Shri Harvansh is a local resident of Gandhidham and
has performed exceedingly well and made his place in Indian Cricket Team
(U-19), he deserves to be provided with sporting infrastructure befitting to
his stature, which is available with DPA in Port Town of Gandhidham, for
day-to-day practice; and therefore, the Chairman, DPA allowed Shri Harvansh
access to all the sporting facilities of DPA at Gopalpuri, free of cost.
The intention of DPA to recognize the achievement of Shri Harvansh is also to
motivate and encourage other youngsters to come forward and hone their skills
in the field of sports.
The Dy. Chairman, all HODs and Senior Officers of the
Port were also present on the occasion.
