J M Baxi Group operated Tuticorin Container Terminal Recognized by Government for strong influence in India’s Maritime Vision 2047

J M Baxi Ports & Logistics proudly announces the inauguration of the Tuticorin Container Terminal at V.O. Chidambaranar Port, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a Viksit Bharat. This terminal marks a significant step in India's Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, boosting container handling capacity and positioning Tuticorin as a critical southern gateway for global trade.

During the inauguration, Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi described the terminal as a "new star of India's marine infrastructure", highlighting its deep draft of over 14 meters and a 300-meter berth that will significantly enhance the port’s capacity and reduce logistics costs. He emphasized that this development is part of India’s broader efforts to strengthen its maritime infrastructure under the Sagarmala Programme, which focuses on port-led development.

As a testament to women-led development, 40% of the workforce at Tuticorin Container Terminal consists of women, breaking traditional barriers in the male-dominated maritime industry. This aligns with the Prime Minister’s mission of empowerment and reflects the J M Baxi Group's commitment to fostering gender diversity in port operations.

The terminal’s advanced infrastructure and proximity to major global sea routes will further bolster India’s role in international trade. Sustainability is a key focus, with 100% renewable energy usage planned, aligning the terminal with India’s green energy goals.

Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Honourable Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, emphasized that early completion of Tuticorin Container Terminal is a testament to the collaboration between J M Baxi Ports & Logistics and V.O. Chidambaranar Port, marking a landmark in public-private partnerships. He noted that this terminal not only improves India’s cargo handling capabilities but also contributes to the Prime Minister's vision of enhancing India’s position in global trade.

The terminal, developed ahead of schedule, will handle 600,000 TEUs annually, contributing to India's EXIM trade growth. By reducing delays and enhancing connectivity, Tuticorin Container

Terminal plays a key role in supporting the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which seeks to position India as a top maritime nation.

As India continues its rapid economic growth, J M Baxi Ports & Logistics is proud to be a crucial partner in creating opportunities for the Maritime India Vision 2030, which focuses on modernizing India's ports, expanding capacity, and fostering economic development through sustainable practices.
