There
were 416 crew members and 590 passengers on board the first cruise ship, “Vasco
da Gama.” The ship will travel to Cochin Port after arriving from Portugal via
Mumbai. The 1,300-passenger second
domestic cruise liner, “Empress,” also docked at Mormugao Port.
Officials
from the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) expressed hope, stating that up to 44
domestic and foreign cruises were scheduled for the current travel season.
According
to them, the local tourist and hospitality sectors will benefit from cruise
tourism.
