The NBR hoped this
move would help to infuse dynamism in the import and export operations at the
Benapole Land Port while the esteemed businessmen will be able to complete
their import and export operations at the fastest possible time, reads an NBR
press release issued today (17 November).
Efforts are on to install a fixed container scanner at
the Benapole Land Port under the supervision of the NBR, it said.
Shipping Adviser
Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, during his visit to the Benapole
Land Port on 14 November, inaugurated the newly built cargo terminal and also
directed the authorities concerned to install a scanner at the port.
Following his
directives, a mobile container scanner, which was earlier installed at Pangaon
port temporarily, has been installed at Benapole port considering national
interest since the installation of a fixed container scanner is time-consuming.
Bangladesh Customs uses fixed container scanners,
mobile container scanners and different types of devices at various ports and
land customs stations in import and export operations in a bid to simplify
trade, reducing time for unloading of goods and preventing smuggling, the
release added.
