Businesses eager to spend Rs 2 lakh crore in Paradip port development: Odisha CM

Several firms have expressed interest in investing over Rs 2 lakh crore to establish Paradip as an industrial hub, according to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. He emphasized the expansion of port-based businesses in Paradip, Dhamara, Astaranga, and Gopalpur while launching the Kalinga Balijatra at Biju Maidan here. According to him, the state government wants to fill almost three lakh open positions across all of its departments.

75,000 jobs have already been created, and another 1.5 lakh will follow shortly. According to him, the Rs 2 crore investment in Paradip comprises the construction of a shipbuilding facility, a coastline highway, an eight-lane Paradip-Barbil NH, and a semi-conductor manufacturing facility with maritime connections to Puri and Singapore.

Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who acknowledged Kalinga Balijatra as an international festival, the chief minister emphasized the significance of raising the celebration to national and international standards. According to him, the celebration acts as a lively reminder of Odisha’s lengthy history of marine trade. The old economic and cultural ties between the historic Kalinga (now Odisha) and Bali, which is now a part of Indonesia, are symbolized by the Kalinga Balijatra.

According to the chief minister, the celebration symbolizes the wealth and marine heritage of Kalinga, the traditional name for Odisha.
