Experts believe
that industries such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, and seafood (particularly
shrimp) will greatly benefit from this development, as they previously
struggled with transportation options due to the lack of international cargo
facilities. The absence of these services since 2019-2020, when Vizag last handled
470 tonnes of international cargo, had become a significant concern for local
businesses.
Vizag Member
of Parliament, M. Sribharat, played a key role in addressing this issue by
bringing it to the attention of the Union Government. His efforts, which
included facilitating discussions between airport authorities and central
committees, were instrumental in reviving the air cargo operations.
Sribharat expressed his gratitude to Union Minister
Rammohan Naidu and State Minister Nara Lokesh for their unwavering support in
making this vision a reality, emphasizing that the resumption of these services would be a landmark achievement for
the industrial sector. He highlighted that this initiative would not only
provide efficient logistics solutions but also showcase Vizag’s potential on
the global stage.
