The ICAR-Indian
Institute of Spices Research has kickstarted the three-day entrepreneurship conclave aiming to open up the
possibilities of spice entrepreneurship and providing assistance to implement
new ideas.
George Ninan,
Director, Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, inaugurated the event at IISR
campus, Kozhikode. The event is organised by the AgriBusiness Incubator unit of
the research centre in collaboration with the Indian Society for Spices and
Kerala Startup Mission.
The event will also feature an entrepreneurship
fair and agricultural expo, which will be having over 100 small-scale
entrepreneurs displaying and selling their products. The display and sale of seeds, fertilizers,
organic inputs, planting materials will also be there at the institute on these
days.
The inaugural ceremony
was chaired by R Dinesh, Director, IISR; Sajeesh VK, senior scientist, IISR,
and Maneesha SR, scientist, IISR.
Besides, a start-up orientation was also carried
out for the budding entrepreneurs about the schemes and grants available from
the public domain. Experts including KP
Sudheer from Kerala Agricultural University; M Preethi from NIT, Ronnie K Roy
and Ashwathi V Girija from Kerala Startup Mission, and entrepreneurs Sanu
Muhammed and Selma S shared their insights in the orientation session.
