Chennai based Leather Industrialist Israr
Ahmed has taken over as Officiating President of Federation of Indian Exporters
Organization (FIEO) with the current President Dr A Sakthivel demitting office
according to an official release..
Dr.Sakthivel
has successfully completed his tenure as the President of FIEO. Taking on this
role, during a challenging time for the global trade industry, DrSakthivel made
a commitment to elevate India's exports to 400 billion US dollars in the fiscal
year 2021-22.
He
focused on export promotion, overseas marketing, and establishing better market
access through free trade agreements (FTAs). He also emphasized the need for
diversification by exploring new products and markets.
He
worked closely with the government and promoted Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen India's export industry. Despite the
headwinds faced globally, DrSakthivel remained confident and predicted that India's goods and services
exports would reach 777 billion US dollars in 2022-23
With his experience as a promoter of the Chennai based Farida Group and his background in the leather industry, Mr Ahmed brings dynamism and innovation to the role. He has previously served in various trade and industry associations, including the Council of Leather Exports and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.
Trade and industry are confident that Mr
Ahmed will continue the important work of his predecessor and address the
concerns of Indian exporters while improving the overall export ecosystem.
