All
the shore handling equipment required for the commissioning of the first phase
of the Vizhinjam International Transshipment terminal scheduled on April 2024
is in place.
The fourth ship arrived with cranes for Vizhinjam port. The
ship has two ship-to-shore cranes and three-yard cranes. The ship Shen Hua 15
has since anchored in the Vizhinjam harbor.
With
this, Vizhinjam port will have four ship-to-shore cranes and 11-yard cranes.
After commissioning these cranes all made in China, the remaining cranes will
be delivered in the second phase.

reports said the two kilometer approach road to enable cargo to be evacuated
from the Port to the nearby National highway has got bogged down on land
acquisition issues
