In December 2023
alone, the originating freight loading reached 138.99 MT, a 6.37% increase from
December 2022’s 130.66 MT. Freight revenue for December
2023 amounted to Rs 15,097.61 crore, showcasing a 3.59% improvement over
December 2022’s Rs 14,574.25 crore.
For December 2023, Indian Railways handled
69 MT of Coal, 16.54 MT of Iron Ore, 6 MT of Pig Iron and Finished Steel, 7.23
MT of Cement (Excl. Clinker), 5.07 MT of Clinker, 4.26 MT of Foodgrains, 5.77
MT of Fertilizers, 4.33 MT of Mineral Oil, 7.70 MT of Containers, and 9.76 MT
of Balance Other Goods.
Following the
mantra “Hungry For Cargo,†Indian Railways persistently worked towards
enhancing the ease of doing business and service delivery at competitive prices.
The customer-centric approach, coupled with the
efforts of Business Development Units and agile policy-making, played a pivotal
role in achieving these significant milestones.
