Railways have offered a 20 per cent rebate on haulage
charges in 49 select routes where the traffic remains low. The discount is
offered for auto companies and component manufacturers in these routes
according to media reports.
This is being offered to generate
additional traffic and revenue. The minimum offer of traffic should be half a rake of
automobiles or auto components for the rebates to be applicable
As per the definition of the scheme applicability, an NMG
rake shall have at least 12 wagons, for BCCNR there should be at least 14
wagons, and for BCACM there should be a minimum of 20 wagons. Items covered under the scheme include
automobiles, motor vehicles, spare parts or other machinery; lubricating oil
like grease
