In an effort to
increase the speed and reliability in delivering to customers and also to adopt
more eco-friendly means of logistics, E-commerce giant Amazon will be moving
its delivery parcels through inland waterways, in addition to road and railways. The plan
intensifies its efforts to strengthen fulfilment, transportation, and logistics
infrastructure in India.Amazon India recently entered into an agreement with
the state-run Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), allowing the use of
inland waterways for transporting customer packages. This marks Amazon as the first e-commerce player in India to tap into
inland water transport.
The collaboration with IWAI
