India Cellular and
Electronics Association (ICEA) estimated that the industry finished the decade
with 2.45 billion units of mobile phones produced, worth Rs4.1 lakh crore in
FY24, as compared to Rs18,900 crore a decade back.
The association said the electronics
industry had set itself a target of Rs20 lakh crore over the 10-year period,
and has achieved Rs19.45 lakh crore in cumulative production.
During the 10-year
period, cumulative exports of mobile phones reached an estimated Rs3.22 lakh
crore making mobile phones the fifth largest exported commodity from India. In
the current fiscal, 30% of the production will be meant for exports.
