The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) of the
UAE has partnered with Lootah
Biofuels, a leader in the circular economy, focusing on
converting used cooking oil into biofuel.
The
collaboration formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to
accelerate the adoption and development of biofuels across the UAE.
The MoU was signed at the Lootah Biofuels facility in
Dubai Industrial City by H.E. Sharif Salim Al-Olama, Undersecretary for Energy
and Petroleum Affairs at MOEI, and Yousif bin Saeed Lootah, founder and CEO of Lootah Biofuels.
The agreement marks a significant step towards
leveraging biofuels as a sustainable and alternative energy source, showcasing
both parties’ commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation.

thereby contributing to the UAE’s energy security and achieving environmental

H.E. Sharif Salim Al-Olama and Yousif bin Saeed Lootah
expressed their enthusiasm for this partnership, highlighting its significance

2050 ambition.
At the MoU signing, His Excellency said, “I would like
to appreciate the efforts being made by Lootah Biofuels to promote the use of
biofuels and to raise public awareness. We
are excited to collaborate with Lootah Biofuels to continue advocating for
adopting sustainable solutions while driving our climate commitments.”
Through this MoU, Lootah Biofuels and MOEI are setting
a precedent in advancing biofuels, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to
achieving its clean energy and Net-Zero 2050 goals. This partnership not only
emphasises the importance of innovation in energy resources but also highlights
the UAE’s role as a leader in sustainable energy on the global stage.
