APSEZ acquired Gopalpur Port at an enterprise value of Rs3,080 crores…Gopalpur
is located between two major ports – Paradip and Visakhapatnam – and is
expected to create synergies with APSEZ’s existing ports at Dhamra and
Gangavaram and help APSEZ strengthen its east coast presence.
True, Gopalpur Port’s 30-year concession ends in 2036 but can be
extended twice by ten years each on mutual terms. The port operator is
contractually mandated to pay a revenue share of 7.5 percent to the Odisha
government.The concessionaire can expand the port capacity as per the market
demand beyond the existing capacity of 20 mt.
