Emergency officials were called to
Quetico Logistics warehouse about an odor. Crews evaluated around 30 people at
the scene and 15 people were taken to the hospital, according to Goodyear Fire
spokesperson Kevin Boyd. The odor was
caused by an overheated battery, according to Boyd. All those taken to the
hospital were not in critical condition, Boyd said. Their current status is
unknown.
After an investigation, it was
determined the odor was from an overheated forklift battery, officials said.
The warehouse is located in the area of South 143rd Avenue and West Yuma Road.
The company's website describes its work as dealing
with retail distribution and manufacturing.
