All contaminated vessels have departed, and the quay walls are now fully
available, with no further restrictions on navigation within the dock.
The
incident on 7 June prompted the port to close Deurganckdok temporarily.
A total of 20 ships were found to be contaminated with oil and were
prohibited from leaving the dock until they had been thoroughly cleaned.
Meanwhile, the Maritime and Port Authority of
Singapore (MPA) reported an oil spillage at its docks after the dredger Vox
Maxima experienced a sudden loss of engine and steering control, colliding with
the bunker tanker Marine Honour. The collision
occurred at Pasir Panjang Terminal in Singapore on 14 June.
The incident led to the rupture of one of Marine
Honour’s oil cargo tanks, resulting in the release of low-sulphur fuel oil into
the water.
