ARC Resumes Regular Operations at the Port of Baltimore

The American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC), a leading U.S.-flag roll-on/roll-off carrier and logistics provider for the U.S. Government, has resumed regular calls at the Port of Baltimore in the aftermath of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on March 26.

Baltimore, as the nation’s largest Ro/Ro port, is vital for ARC’s operations in support of the U.S. Transportation Command, the transportation provider for the Department of Defense. In 2022 and 2023, ARC moved nearly 25,000 units of cargo per year via Baltimore.

The first vessel to load since the incident was the M/V ARC Integrity on June 16 at the Mid Atlantic Terminal, located in Dundalk, Maryland. The vessel continued its usual operations, loading an assortment of vehicles for export, other rolling stock, and breakbulk destined for ports in Europe.

“We are excited to be part of ARC’s return to Baltimore. Despite the immediate aftermath of the tragedy in Baltimore, everyone stepped up to ensure the nation’s maritime transportation system continued seamlessly,” said President of the Seafarers International Union (SIU) David Heindel.. “We commend the dedication and adaptability of both the company and the crews.

Scott Cowan, President of International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local 133, expressed optimism about the port’s return to full operations saying, “We are coming back strong and looked forward to ARC coming back.”
