Even today,10
July Odesa suffered another hit in the early hours of the day that resulted in
the deaths of a truck driver and a port worker. Another port worker was
injured.
Ukraine created a new cargo handling
scheme via Germany being facilitated by Rhenus Port Logistics Rhein-Ruhr which
provides a port terminal and special equipment for grain cargoes from Ukraine
at terminal 4 of the Port of Duisburg.
Previously,
corn was transported to its destination through the port of Odesa. Now there is
also a railway route through Ukraine, Poland, and Germany. Upon arrival in
Duisburg, the corn is transshipped directly from containers to inland vessels.
At the Ukrainian border town of
Mostyska, cargo is transferred from grain wagons to standard EU containers for
general cargo. At the
Polish-Ukrainian border, cargo is blocked with special GPS tracking seals,
which are then removed at the German-Polish border.
During
the creation of the project, several things were taken into account. Namely, it takes into account the situation
in the grain market but also the war in Ukraine as well as restrictions on the
transit and import of grain in Europe.
