The government has approved Rs 240
billion for constructing a four-lane road connecting Umiam in Meghalaya to
Silchar in Assam.
This 235 km
project aims to significantly improve connectivity between the two northeastern
states, fostering regional development and economic growth.
Additionally, the project includes
building bridges, tunnels, and bypasses to navigate the region’s challenging
terrain. Advanced safety features and
efficient traffic management systems will be integrated to enhance commuter
safety.
