Fruits from ASEAN countries find a smoother path into China

These include the enactment of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the operation of the China-Laos Railway, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC), and enhancements in e-commerce and cross-border cold-chain logistics, supported by China's customs clearance policies.

Journalists from People's Daily explored Chanthaburi province in Thailand, known for its fruit production, and various points of import and trading within China, tracking ASEAN fruits from their origin to Chinese consumers. In Chanthaburi, a visit to a mangosteen orchard highlighted the region's rich fruit cultivation heritage, with over 70 century-old trees. The Thai Mangosteen Association, representing over 1,000 farmers, emphasized the Chinese market's role in the sector's growth.

At a local mangosteen processing facility, the preparation of fruits for export to China was observed, underscoring the significant demand in China for ASEAN fruits. The development of the fruit industry in eastern Thailand, including Chanthaburi, Rayong, and Trat provinces, has not only increased local employment but also improved living standards, contributing to the region's economic and social development
