Tamil Nadu’s Tuticorin
district will debut India’s first commercial production of largescale green
hydrogen molecules. Sembcorp Industries, a Singapore-based energy and
urban solutions provider is investing Rs 36,238 crore for setting up the green
hydrogen/green ammonia manufacturing unit in the port city. The company will
operate and produce green ammonia from the plant spread over 160 acres in the
key port area of Tuticorin.
The
plant will initially produce 200,000 metric tonne per annum of green ammonia
for exporting to Japan. The front-end
engineering and design work for the plant has commenced.
