Hindustan
Shipyard Ltd. (HSL) signed a MoU with Indian Maritime University (IMU) to
enhance innovative shipbuilding capabilities and capacity building on
30.08.2024 (Friday).
The
MoU was signed in the presence of Vice-Chancellor of IMU Dr. Malini V Shankar
(Retd. IAS) and Chairman and Managing Director of HSL Commodore Hemant Khatri.
IMU
Vice Chancellor expressed optimism that the partnership will facilitate
knowledge sharing and research collaboration, leading to enhanced capacity and
capabilities for both entities. She also interacted with HSL’s women
executives, encouraging them to develop their skills and take on leadership
roles while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
The
purpose of MoU is to promote capacity building, research and development
(R&D) and consultancy in the areas of ship design and ship production. It
will also facilitate and promote wider and more intense interactions between
the parties for development of smart and innovative solutions collaboratively
to cater to the in house requirements as well as to other agencies and
organizations. This MoU may also facilitate collaborative development and
implementation of technologies for the Maritime Sector and also extend to other
agencies such as private and public ports, regional and overseas port
development projects and to other related industries.

Chairman and Managing Director expressed his commitment to explore innovation
in ship design and technology for diverse platforms.
