Chennai Port has surpassed
the monthly traffic of 5.045 million metric tons (MMT) during the month of
August 2024, reaching this milestone for the first time in a decade
Further, Chennai Port has
achieved a landmark performance by handling 170,606 TEUs (Twenty-foot
Equivalent Units) in August 2024, surpassing the previous record of 153,948
TEUs set in October 2021.
Additionally, on August
31, 2024, Chennai Port set an all-time record by importing 23,534 tons of steel
cargo in a single day from the vessel M.V. BUNUN YOUTH at WQ III, surpassing
the previous record of 20,100 tons unloaded from M.V. NAGUAL on November 7,
2023.

Shipping & Logistics Pvt. Ltd., the involved importers, and the port
officials.
