China delivers advanced offshore wind power platform Ganghangping 5

Built by Tianjin Port and Shipping Engineering Co., Ltd., this platform is now officially operational following a ceremony held at the Qingdao Haixi Heavy Machinery Terminal.

The "Ganghangping 5" stands out as China's most advanced offshore wind power construction platform, boasting impressive specifications. The platform is 135 metres long, 50 metres wide, and has a maximum lifting capacity of 1,800 tons. It can operate in water depths exceeding 70 metres and has a lifting height of 168 metres above deck. Notably, it is capable of handling the installation of the world's largest wind turbines, including those exceeding 26 MW, and can transport and install two 20 MW wind turbines simultaneously.

The platform is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a DP2 dynamic positioning system and an intelligent ship system. This system enables route and speed optimisation, energy efficiency management, and integrated platform monitoring.

The "Ganghangping 5" also features a wind and solar complementary green energy system that powers the platform's daily operations, contributing to a 20% increase in wind turbine installation efficiency compared to previous generations.

The delivery ceremony was attended by over 200 industry professionals, including representatives from government departments, industry associations, business partners, and equipment suppliers. The successful commissioning of "Ganghangping 5" is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing China's offshore wind power capabilities and supporting the nation's maritime development goals.
