Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways announced that SCI will buy container ships in a meeting Shri Piyush Goyal, the Union
Minister of Commerce and Industry called, on 18 September to
find solutions for the problems faced by exporters,
Capt Tyagi said
that, they want to increase the container cargo carrying capacity of SCI and
they had chartered a nearly 9,000 TEU capacity ship on 5 September and inducted
it into the service that SCI is running jointly with MSC on the India-Europe
sector which will help the Indian exporters because the
service is originating from India. They are working on this; some actions are
already taken whereas some other actions will initiate as instructed by the
Ministry.
