Port
Day celebration was conducted at Chennai Port Authority in a grand manner, on
21 October 2024, to commemorate the raising Chennai Port. The celebration was presided over by Shri.
Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority (ChPA) & Chairman
Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL), & attended by Shri S Viswanathan, IAS, Dy
Chairperson ChPA , Mrs Irene Cynthia, IAS,
MD KPL, Shri S MuraliKrishnan, IDAS, Chief Vigilance Officer Chennai Port
Authority and KPL and other dignitaries.
Shri
Indranil Hazra, Secretary, Chennai Port Authority, delivered the Welcome Address
covering the rich heritage and glorious history of the port followed by a Cultural
Program, a live Music Show by Sathya’s Geetanjali
Musical Group. After the musical
delight, a presentation was screened, highlighting the salient aspects of IAPH
Award, (International Association of Ports and Harbour) where Chennai Port is
the 1st Indian Port ever to receive the IAPH Sustaibability Award
2024 in Community Building Category.
Shri
S Viswanathan, IAS, Dy Chairperson in his address acknowledged contribution
made by stakeholders, officers and Staffs and thanked all officers and employees
for their valuable service during the preceding year and motivated to work to
the fullest potential for sustained growth of the Port. Mrs J.P. Irene Cynthia,
IAS, MD KPL, in her address, traced the history of Chennai Port for the growth of Chennai City and thanked stake
holders and employees of Chennai Port for the synergy between the two entities.
Shri Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson ChPA
& Chairman KPL in his Presidential Address, greeted Officers, Staff, Port
Users and Stakeholders, expressed
satisfaction on the overall functioning of the port and appreciated the efforts
of Officers and Employees of Chennai Port for their sustained efforts in making
Chennai Port a Futuristic Port. The Chairperson congratulated both Chennai Port
Authority and Kamarajar Port Limited for surpassing expectations in port
operations.
Chairperson awarded the best performing Business
Partners and congratulated them for their excellent performance. Memento and
certificates were distributed to the Swachata hi Seva Campaign Prize Winning
Employees of ChPA and students of CHP&DET Higher Secondary School to
motivate them further.
All officers
and employees displayed positivity and sense of purpose to contribute towards
port development. With the utmost sense
of pride and hope, all employees of Chennai port concluded the celebration.
