The Ministry of External
Affairs (MEA) said that movement towards linking Iran’s Chabahar Port in Iran
with INSTC would be possible in the not-too-distant future. INSTC – International
North-South Transport Corridor is a network of roads, railways, and sea routes
that connects India, Russia, Iran, and other countries.
The two leaders focused on the
strategic importance of the Chabahar Port and the International North-South
Transport Corridor (INSTC), which are vital to enhancing trade and economic
partnerships across the region. Both leaders highlighted that these projects not
only strengthen bilateral ties but also improve access to Central Asia and
support the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
India and Iran share
longstanding civilizational ties. Iran is situated in India’s extended neighborhood,
and the two countries have significant overlap in their economic and security
space. India and Iran are important trade partners.
