MPA completes oil cleanup following Shell slop leak

According to MPA, there have been no more oil sightings at sea or on land since 20 October , when Shell initially reported the spill. There have also been no sightings of oil following the separate oil overflow bunkering event off Changi on 28 October.

All seaward oil response assets deployed by MPA for both incidents will be deactivated.

Since 20 October, government agencies have placed containment and absorbent booms in various areas as a preventive measure. These will be gradually removed.

The National Environment Agency and MPA are investigating the leaking slop event at Pulau Bukom. The MPA will also investigate the Changi oil overflow bunkering event. In June, MPA reported that the northern half of the Pasir Panjang Container Terminal (PPT) has been cleansed of oil slicks.
