Chennai Port Authority has observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2024

Chennai Port Authority has observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 from 28.10.2024 to 03.11.2024 with the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity” under the directives of Central Vigilance Commission. As a prelude to Vigilance Awareness Week, several programs and outreach activities on preventive vigilance has been organized as desired by the Commission during the campaign period from 16.08.2024 to 15.11.2024.  

Chennai Port and Indian Bank jointly organized a “Curtain Raiser Programme as a Run-up to Vigilance Awareness Week 2024” on 30.08.2024 which was inaugurated by Vigilance Commissioner and Secretary, CVC followed by Technical session by Director, CVC for the Vigilance Officers of Chennai based PSUs / PSEs on Complaint Handling Mechanism, Investigation of Complaints and Commissions Policy initiatives.

During the said period, various Capacity Building refresher training / workshop has been conducted to the Officials of the Chennai Port & Kamarajar Port. Competitions viz., Essay / Slogan Writing in Tamil, English & Hindi and Quiz program were conducted on issues relating to Anti-corruption.

Walkathon Program was conducted by College Students of Loganatha Narayanasamy Govt. College, Ponneri, to spread awareness to the Public for combat against corruption.

To create awareness among young minds particularly to students’ community, competitions viz., Essay Writing in Tamil & English / Elocution in Tamil / Poster making was conducted for the College and School students. Online Quiz competitions to the school students in Chennai and surrounding districts were also conducted.

Rangoli Competitions for Self-help Women Groups wasalso conducted for sensitizing the importance of Preventive Vigilance in fighting corruption.

An Integrity Pledge was also administered to the Officials of Chennai Port & Kamarajar Port and to the Students of College / School who participated in various competitions. The family members of Chennai Port & Kamarajar Port Officials and Stakeholders were advised to take e-Integrity Pledge.

The valedictory function of the week-long celebration of VAW 2024 was held on 07.11.2024. Shri. S Murali Krishnan IDAS, CVO, ChPA & KPL highlighted various initiatives taken by Central Vigilance Commission on the aspects of Preventive Vigilance and measures taken to create awareness among public & stakeholders.

Smt. Irene Cynthia, IAS, MD, KPL in her key note address has commended the efforts taken by Vigilance Officials and stressed upon the observance of VAW with the theme that encourages in embracing values of ethical conduct, transparency, accountability and mutual respect, Nation’s building trust in governance, stimulating economic performance, nurture social cohesion and to elevate the quality of life for their citizens.

Shri. S. Viswanathan, IAS, Dy. Chairperson, ChPA in his address has given emphasis that the Culture of Integrity would definitely promote economic growth of country and it would enhance good governance and also strengthen the social cohesion and thus improve the quality of life.

In the presidential address delivered by the Chairperson, ChPA & Chairman, KPL, Shri. Sunil Paliwal, IAS, appreciated the various initiatives taken by CVO, ChPA & KPL and stated that the Integrity is more than just adhering to laws and regulations and it is a deep-seated commitment to doing what is right, even when no one is watching.

Shri Brajendra Navnit, IAS, Principal Secretary to Govt. of Tamil Nadu, Commercial Taxes and Registration Department in his Special Address has appreciated the various initiatives taken by CVO, ChPA & KPL towards sensitizing importance of Preventive Vigilance in fighting corruption and promoting integrity in public governance and emphasised inculcating honesty and other good virtues in every citizen, especially the younger generation who will undeniably contribute to our Nation’s prosperity. He has also distributed Prizes to the winners of the competitions held during VAW-2024. Shri. B. Senthil, Senior Manager (Vigilance), KPL, has delivered Vote of Thanks.
