One of the protocols allows sending fresh fruit
through ports and airports in third countries, which will optimize transfer
times and improve the condition of the fruit for consumers."We are very happy about the implementation
of new export protocols that will further strengthen our relationship with
China," stated Undersecretary Fernandez. This will allow exporting fresh
fruit to that destination by sea and air, improving the quality and time of
arrival, he added."We would like to
thank the General Customs Administration for its effort to make these
agreements that facilitate exports and reflect the trust and friendship
between Chile and China, reaffirming our commitment to provide high-quality
safe food for Chinese families," stated
the Chilean Undersecretary of Agriculture, Ignacia Fernandez.
Chile's main export
product in the 2023-2024 fruit season was the cherry, 91% of which was destined
for the People's Republic of China.
"Frutas de Chile
actively participates with the Minagri, and especially the SAG, in the meetings
with the Chinese Customs authorities. We are grateful for being part of this
process because we believe this synergy opens better opportunities for Chile in
the world. Our country is currently
China's main cherry supplier, but it's also the main supplier of fresh
temperate fruits in this market. This has been possible thanks to our joint
work," stated the president of Frutas de Chile, IvánMarambio.
The first shipment of this year's cherry season to
China was made on October 16. The shipment was for a total of 315 kg of Cherry
Crunch cherries from Ovalle, an area that once again sent the first shipment. The fruit was sold in
less than 30 minutes at the Huizhan Market.
