By
berthing its first vessel, the MV KSL Fuyang, at its cutting-edge facility at
Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Integrated Cargo Terminal Private Limited
(ICTPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL), a leader
in the logistics sector, has accomplished a significant milestone.
The historic occasion comes
after VPA recently granted ICTPL a 30-year concession on December 11, 2024,
under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The terminal is situated on
the Inner Harbor’s northern arm. The concession was granted as part of the VPA
board’s plan to increase capacity by managing different kinds of dry bulk
cargo.
According to VPA Chairman Dr.
M. Angamuthu, the terminal can manage 5.18 MMTPA. Two harbor mobile cranes with
a 1200-ton-per-hour (TPH) capacity and a 100-ton lifting capability each were
installed as part of the arrangement. The installation of mobile hoppers, stockpile
augmentation, dust suppression systems, electrical work, STP work, and other
kinds of contemporary handling equipment are all included in the Rs. 165.70
crore mechanization project.
Within
two kilometers of the berth, the terminal will have a 12.5-acre stackyard and a
backup area of 2.5 acres for temporary goods. In order to load 20,000 MT of
rough granite blocks for Elite Shipping Agencies, the ship was the first to be
berthed.
