The completed projects include two Anganwadi centres, a Corporation
park, a fair price shop, a public toilet, a yoga centre, and a parking facility
opposite the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, to accommodate 280
two-wheelers and 15 cars.
The foundation-laying ceremony
marked the start of initiatives such as the installation of new drinking water
pipelines in Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur, renovations for three schools,
construction of an Urban Primary Health Centre, and the building of a concrete
bund wall for Sengulam Lake. Additionally, tar-topped roads would be laid, and
street lights would be installed along the boundary of the lake.
Speaking to the media, the Minister said, “Over 860 km of new tar-topped
roads were completed in the city at a cost of ₹415 crore in the last 3.5 years.
Additionally, the Chief Minister has allocated ₹200 crores as special funds to
lay tar-topped roads in the city. A tender of ₹100 crores has
been issued, and the DPR is being prepared for the remaining funds. This is the
largest amount ever allocated in Coimbatore Corporation history for tar roads
alone.”
