A cargo vessel turned sideways off the Turkish shore, causing shipping
containers to collapse into the water.
According to Sky News,
the ship, named Amnah, had a Comoro Islands flag and the crew onboard needed to
be rescued. Local reports suggested that
the incident took place at 4:00 am on 24 December 2024, and the ship became
unstable as a result of uneven cargo loading.
Sky News revealed
officials rescued 10 of the 15 crew members, while the remaining five plunged
into the ocean and made it to shore on their own.
Shortly after part of
the containers fell into the ocean, the ship was ringed by floating barriers, which
helped to limit any marine contamination.
